Every project begins with a mission to uplift. Art fosters joy, comfort, and connection across communities.

Transforming medical and social service centers into welcoming, positive environments for patients and staff
"FROM CLINICAL TO COLORFUL"

Personalized murals for homebound children with serious medical challenges

Uplifting neighborhoods with artwork to brighten communities
Founded in 1996, Splashes of Hope is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization dedicated to creating art to transform spaces, enrich environments and facilitate healing.
Our custom-designed artwork is designed to comfort patients during treatment, healing and recovery by providing a soothing and uplifting visual focus. Each mural is designed to address the unique needs of the patients, their family and the staff that cares for them.
Splashes of Hope has reached ALL 50 states across the US, and internationally in France, Italy, and Ukraine.

Splashes of Hope was founded in 1996 by Heather Buggée in reaction to her own experience in typical, dreary medical settings. During her art school years, Heather had a friend who was afflicted with Hodgkin’s Disease being treated in a local hospital. They discussed ways to improve the hospital’s aesthetics. Their idea that positive imagery would improve a patient’s outlook to support the healing process, was the genesis of Splashes of Hope.
Heather’s friend, sadly, did not survive his illness, but their dream lives on. Heather and her team of artists and volunteers have made the dream into reality. After 25 years, Splashes of Hope continues its mission to brighten the world with art!

From all of us here at the New York City Children’s Center Queens Hospital, thank you for making our center not just a place of healing, but a place filled with heart and hope.
Queens is proudly known as the world’s borough. The bold and colorful piece embraces the Unisphere, a Queens landmark as the central focus. The Unisphere located in Queens’ Corona Park was created for the World’s Fair where the theme was peace through understanding.
The mural is motioned with bold colors, and sensory images such as blooming water fountains, delicious treats, fluffy clouds, and action scenes like bouncing balls, running, skating, reading, eating, and so much more. It also represents the cultural diaspora that is Queens across multiple generations and abilities. Overall, a perfect symbol for our youth, their families, and our staff.
Extending our heartfelt thanks to everyone who designed, curated and funded the beautiful mural gifted to NYC CC Queens Campus on November 13, 2025. Thanks to Julia, the artist for her creativity and vision; John for his hard work and commitment, the American Nurses Association for funding the work, and to the entire team of Slashes of Hope for the joy they bring to work like ours. We appreciate you.

On behalf of Jaguar Freight, Selina and I are honored to be here today for the dedication. Last year during our annual team building event our team partnered with Splashes of Hope to create the murals that you just saw. It was more than just an activity. It was a chance to contribute something meaningful. Our goal was simple, to bring a little color, light, and comfort to the children, families, and staff who walk these halls every day. At Jaguar, philanthropy is part of our culture. We believe that giving back makes us stronger, both as individuals and as a team. If you know me, which you don’t, every speech I have has a Winston Churchhill quote in it. So, Winston Churchill said it best “We make a living by what we get. We make a life by what we give.” This project gave our team that chance to step outside our daily roles and to give our time, energy and creativity to serve a greater purpose. We are grateful to Splashes of Hope for their partnership and vision with the entire team here at John Oishei Children’s Hospital. The child life team, marketing, corporate partnerships and leadership. Allowing us to contribute in this small way to the incredible work you do every single day. We hope these murals bring smiles, hope, and a sense of comfort to every child and family who sees them. Thank you for the opportunity to be part of this. Thank you.

Splashes of Hope has been, without question, the most creative, engaging, and satisfying event I’ve arranged in my decades of planning activities for groups of all sizes. The professionalism and passion of their team made the entire experience seamless and enthusiastic for our group. I highly recommend Painting for a Purpose to anyone looking to elevate their event and leave a lasting impact!

We are extremely excited to welcome our completed painting to its permanent home in Alumni Hall at BH-BL High School. It looks amazing! This mural showcases the BHBL community and represents values of inclusion, kindness, and volunteerism, by highlighting several student activities from daily life at BH-BL. Several students, faculty, staff, and community members contributed to the finished project - a real celebration of collaboration and inclusion! Special thanks to Geri O’Brien, the O’Brien Speech, Language, and Learning Center, the Igoe Family and Splashes of Hope for making it possible.
