Founded in 1996, Splashes of Hope is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization dedicated to creating art to transform spaces, enrich environments and facilitate healing.
Our custom-designed artwork is designed to comfort patients during treatment, healing and recovery by providing a soothing and uplifting visual focus. Each mural is designed to address the unique needs of the patients, their family and the staff that cares for them.
Splashes of Hope has reached ALL 50 states across the US, and internationally in France, Italy, and Ukraine.

Splashes of Hope was founded in 1996 by Heather Buggée in reaction to her own experience in typical, dreary medical settings. During her art school years, Heather had a friend who was afflicted with Hodgkin’s Disease being treated in a local hospital. They discussed ways to improve the hospital’s aesthetics. Their idea that positive imagery would improve a patient’s outlook to support the healing process, was the genesis of Splashes of Hope.
Heather’s friend, sadly, did not survive his illness, but their dream lives on. Heather and her team of artists and volunteers have made the dream into reality. After 25 years, Splashes of Hope continues its mission to brighten the world with art!

Monica and Roman Krawczyk
Co-Presidents
They believe it was destiny when over two decades ago their paths crossed with Splashes of Hope’s founder, Heather Buggee. After seeing Heather describe Splashes of Hope on the local news, they arranged to meet her. They were so impressed that they offered their company's facility as a workspace for the fledgling foundation! Throughout the years, they have witnessed how Splashes of Hope 's transformative murals have eased the anxiety of those going through stressful times in healthcare facilities.
Throughout the years, the Krawczyks have continuously volunteered, dedicated resources, and assisted Splashes of Hope to drive the organization’s mission forward. Since the outset, Splashes of Hope has always been a significant part of their family life. In addition, they are have encouraged their parents, children, and many friends to become involved with the organization. In the summer of 2020, the Krawczyks were elected Co-Presidents by the Board of Directors to lead the Splashes of Hope into the future.
Monica is a secondary teacher, educating students at West Islip School District in West Islip, NY. Roman is an entrepreneur and the owner of Point 2 Point Communications, a fiber optics and communications company. Splashes of Hope's relationship with Tom Chang began in 2011 through the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Tom's son Ethan, a former wish child, is challenged with an extremely rare genetic brain disease (megaencephalic leukoencephalopathy with subcortical cysts). Ethan's wish granter, Dave Gussaroff, suggested that Splashes of Hope paint a one of a kind mural for his bedroom depicting all of his favorite things. This was the beginning of a beautiful friendship!
Tom, a Master Solution Engineer and longtime Salesforce employee, has been instrumental in recruiting multitudes of volunteers, and encouraging them to donate their time and talents to Splashes. He currently proudly serves as Vice President of the Board of Directors.
